Time to put Tryouts and Opening Ceremonies on your calendar. Tryouts: March 17 | March 20; Opening Ceremonies: April 16.
We at Southwest Colorado Youth baseball are committed to our youth baseball players from 4-18u. We are committed to providing an affordable youth baseball program for all ages and levels of experience.
Wed. March 17 ~ 5:00pm
Sat. March 20 ~ 12:00pm
Fri. April 16 ~ 6:30pm
Our regular league play will be very similar to what we have been doing for years; except for some minor rules changes.
We will be adopting a version of AABC rules starting with kid pitch with 65ft bases and lead offs and some minor differences in rules.
Also with each age group we will gradually increase the base path distance.
Our regular season team rosters will be made up of a collection of players at different skill levels and age groups. So our hopes are this will create more opportunity for all players to play the highly sought after positions in order to improve confidence and skill.
We will continue to strive to improve our youth baseball program to give your players the best experience they can have. We are not offering the competitive play at the 9-10u level this year as with loss of last season due to Covid; this division will be totally new to the kid pitch play.
As stated before we will be adding lead off to this division. We will poll the coaches to see if we start lead-offs at the beginning of the season or pick a point in the season to make the switch depending on the level of pitch development.
Competitive team play will be offered for the 11u age and up.
This offering will take place during the same season. All players will sign up for their certain age group and will be drafted onto a regular season team. We will then make a competitive team out of the age groups that want to compete in the newly created Four Corners Youth league.
These competitive teams will compete against Farmington, Bayfield, Durango and other area teams in the four corners. This will be an affordable opportunity for advanced players to compete at a higher level and not have to put out the expense of traveling to high dollar out of state tournaments.
This will also give the opportunity to the players that aren’t quite at the advanced level to improve and eventually make the competitive team. These teams will not be closed off, so as players advance in their skill level then they will be added to competitive rosters.
Instead of having us talk about ourselves, why don’t we see what our clients have to say.
